AVerVision CCD Failure Announcement
- Introduction:
AVerMedia has recently been notified of a CCD (charge coupled device) Failure problem in Digital Still Cameras, Digital Video Camcorders, and Document Cameras/ Digital Visualizers by the leading CCD manufacturer. According to the estimation, there are more than one hundred product variations with CCD sensors expected to be effected. The primary cause is due to the same CCD adaptation from the same CCD maker. This company is a worldwide leader of CCD components with a record of high quality. However a small number of CCD components between October 2002 ¡V March 2004, were confirmed to have defective issues due to the aging of the products.
- Description of Defective Unit:
The manufacturing period:
- The defective units were manufactured between 2003 and 2004.
- Only a small percentage of CCD units were affected, as most are still working properly.
Symptom of Defective Unit:
- The screen turns black after the "AVerMedia" logo appears.
- The On Screen Display appears when the Menu button is pressed.
- The image on the display is red/pink and noisy, but the On Screen Display is clear.
- It is difficult to diagnose in the beginning as the CCD may perform perfectly for several months, but may fail after constant use.
